Part I
It was one of those days he should have stayed in bed. He knew that today something strange was to happen, although, he didn't know why. It was just something he felt it as he woke up. Everyone was still sleeping except his best friend, Dale.
Dale was sitting on his bed, a pencil in his hand which he had pushed in his cast that he had gotten yesterday. Justin sat up on his bed and looked at Dale.
"So please tell me again. How could you hurt your arm so bad playing ping-pong that you now have to wear a cast? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard," he said with a grin on his face.
"And I told you," Dale replied angrily, "that I don't know how it happened. It just did. Okay? Leave it alone!"
"Ok, ok. Keep cool. I wasn’t trying to be mean. It's just that it’s so ridiculous." Dale gave him a sarcastic smile and stood up.
"It's almost time to get up. I'm going for a piss. Better now than later. It’s always crowded when you go later."
He began to walk slowly through the room, careful not to step against a bed. He didn't want to wake anybody up before it was time.
"Wait! I'm coming with you. I think I drank too much water yesterday. My bladder is about to explode," Justin said as he followed Dale, being careful not to wake up anybody either.
They went outside and there they met the two Rangers, Nelson and Twombly. They had just ended their night watch.
"Hey Nelson! Did you catch anybody?" Justin shouted.
Nelson and Twombly had to do the night watch for the whole week which was something that Justin found amusing. This was something that even Dale didn't understand. It was weird. But today Nelson seemed to be in a bad mood.
"Leave me alone, stupid idiot," Nelson yelled to Justin.
Dale stepped between them trying to prevent a fight.
Twombly took Nelson aside and led him in the hangar.
"Just ignore him. You know that he is kind of weird concerning the night watch. Come on, we’ll hit the hay and after a nice sleep everything will be forgotten. You'll see!"
Dale hit Justin when they got to the toilets.
"What the hell do you think you’re doing? Just leave them alone. And I mean all of those who have to do the night watch. I don’t understand what's so funny about it. You also have to do the night watch. You now how fraught or tedious it can be, so why are you always making fun of them? Don't let Steele notice that; he'd kill you. You know that."
"Nah. He won't notice it if you don’t tell him," Justin said just as the alarm rang to waken the troops.
"Yes, breakfast! I'm starving!"
"Justin, you're always starving. Come on. If we hurry we’ll have more time to spend at the beach.”
